Harrison Ford Movie Review: ***^ Air Force One (1997)

The President (Harrison Ford) and his plane are under attack by a group of Russian Nationals who want a general restored.  Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) is a retty violent person.  In fact he and his team kill many people taking over the plane, and then Korshunov kills more to get people to do what he wants.  He threatens the first lady (Wendy Crewson and his daughter (Liesel Mathews).  He kills a jr staff member and the security advisor.  The vice president (Glen Close) is in Washington and expresses to Russia our need.  She would not authorize a 25th amendment take over and declare the president compromised.  Important staff who die defending the president include his Chief of Staff (Paul Guilfoyle) and Major Caldwell (William H Macy).  On the other hand Agent Gibbs (Xander Berkeley) betrayed the president and was a mole for the terrorists.  He allowed them to access the weapons on board the plane.  They seem to succeed.  The general is being released.  But the president escapes and they retake the plane.  The general does not turn back when he is ordered to stop, and he is killed.

This movie is rated R with lots of violence and swearing.  There are more mellow edited version available.   It is very intense for a time.  They are able to rescue many of the passengers with parachutes, but the refuel plane explodes.  At times the dialogue seems off in my opinion.  But I did like the line, get off my plane.  Also with so many bullets flying around the plane would have been compromised at some point, but nothing happens as a result.

Movie Review: **** The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)

Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is up to his old tricks, and he is tracking down his history.  Treadstone did not go away, but it is now operating under a new name, Blackbriar.  The operation is a program to train and direct assassins.  The CIA directors who are running the program, and insist on going after are Noah Vosens (David Strathairn) and Ezra Kramer (Scott Glenn).  Kramer is the immediate boss of Pam Landy (Joan Allen) who is trying to advocate for Bourne.  Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) also tries to help, and gets caught with Bourne in the field.  There is a reporter (Paddy Considine) with information on Treadstone but he is murdered before Bourne can get the information.  Bourne actually breaks into the CIA office and gets records about the program from from Vosens' office.  He gets this to Pam Landy who quickly gets it out before they can kill her.   Bourne finally meets the behavioral psychiatrist, Dr. Albert Hirsch (Albert Finney) who has made the assassins.  He has no regrets.  The program comes down, and Bourne continues on the road.  Again plenty of action.  Bourne has to fend off several assassins who come for him.  Thee are also lots of chase scenes.

Movie Review: **** The Bourne Supremacy (2004)

The action continues, but we start with a tragedy.  Ward Abbott (Brian Cox), head of Treadstone is intent on getting Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) based on something he might remember.  The frame him for a CIA operation that went bad.  They then someone to kill Bourne.  Instead of killing him, they kill his girl, Marie (Franka Potente).  So Bourne is back and needing answers.  Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) now works high up in the CIA.  She and Nicky (Julia Stiles) are trying to get to the bottom of things.  Again Bourne is chased by the world, and finally things turn on Cox, who instead of being arrested does himself in.  Bourne is equal to the tasks of those who are sent to kill him, and he finally gets the person who pulled the trigger that killed his girl, Kirill (Karl Urban).  Some memories return for Bourne.  He is able to apologize to the daughter of a couple he murdered.

Movie Review: **** Bourne Identity (2002)

The Bourne movies are action from start to finish.  This is th first of a series.  Bourne (Matt Damon) has botched an assassination attempt, an was shot in the back twice.  He is fished from the ocean by some fishermen, and they save his life.  He does not know who he is, but they discover a chip in his. body with a safe deposit box number.  There he finds cash and passports from several countries with his picture and the name Jason Bourne.  He recruits a young woman, Marie (Franka Potente) for a ride.  However his former boss, Conklin (Chris Cooper) of Treadstone is not willing to let him go.  Conklin's boss is Ward Abbott (Brian Cox).  They send several assassins after Bourne, but they are not successful.  He gets Marie away.  In the end he get away himself.  Abbott orders an assassin to take out Conklin.  The woman who was Bourne's handler is Nicki Parsons (Julia Stiles).  She does not believe Bourne has gone rogue.

High action and the amnesia angle makes this a more interesting movie.

Movie Review: ****Retribution (2023)

This is a Liam Neeson movie which I watched through a streaming service.  Neeson plays a bank executive who is being black mailed by a bomb placed under his seat into releasing money from the bank.  His children (Lilly Aspell and Jack Champion) are in the car with him.  At the same time he is set up as the perpetrator of several murders.  The police (Noma Dumezweni) are after him as he keeps getting away, and finally meets up with his boss (Matthew Modine), who he also appears to murder.  However all is not as it appears.  Very good Liam Neeson action movie.

Movie Review: ***Fall Guy (2024)

This is a movie about stuntmen with a romance and a murder story mixed in.  Emily Blunt portrays Jody Moreno, the director of the film and former love interest of our stuntman, Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) who took a bad fall and has been away from the stunt work for a few years.  Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is the man he usually stunts for.  Gail Meyer (Hannah Waddingham) is the producer.  The cover up in this case is almost as bad as the original murder.  Our actor, Seavers killed someone showing off.  Meyer is determined to co ver it up, and actually brings in the stuntman to be the fall guy.  This movie high lights stuntmen and consequently there are lots of explosions and plenty of crashes.  This type of movie is very noisy and it over stimulates me.  Emily Blunt in a movie is always enjoyable.

Movie Review: ***^Jack Reacher (2012)

This is a Tom Cruise fast action adventure which doesn't disappoint.  This movie starts with the sniper style murder of five innocents.  Cruise plays Jack Reacher, an ex military police, who is called in by the defendant who is accused of killing five people by sniper fire.  reacher has been hiding for many years.  While in the military, reacher caught this guy who is accused of the murder, of killing innocent civilians in Iraq.  However things don't add up, and thus starts the action which leads to more murders, and eventually the kidnapping of Reacher's partner in the investigation, the defense attorney Helen (Rosamund Pike)  So Reacher has to save the day.  He includes and old guy )Robert Duvall) in his rescue, who ran the shooting range where the sniper, and the actually murderer practiced.  He has helped vindicate the actual person accused, and they are coming after the real killers.
Lots of tense violence in this movie, if you like that type of thing.
