Movie Review: ***^Enola Holmes 2 (2022)

 Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) returns for a different ploy in which the police and several politicians are complicit in covering up dangerous industrial conditions which are killing the women making matches.  We have most of the same characters from #1.  Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) is still a boy of interest to Enola.  A  nice part of this movie is a larger role taken by Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) and he and Enola are investigating separate cases which end up being different ends of the same case.  Sherlock is investigating money laundering while Enola investigates the disappearance of a young woman's sister.  The superintendent of police, Grail (David Thewlis) has turned bad and is involved in a conspiracy to defraud the government and prevent improved industrial conditions.  These cases include additional murders, and Enola is framed for one of them and goes to prison.  At this point her mother (Helena Bonham Carter) and her friend Edith (Susan Wokoma) blow up the prison wall and brake her out of jail.  Enola, Sherlock and Lord Tewkesbury eventually join hands are on on the chase.  

Movie Review: **The Adventures Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother

Gene Wilder portrays Sigerson Holmes, Sherlock's younger, smarter, but sometimes bumbling brother.  The humor misses sometimes, but actually works other times.  The funniest part is where Sigerson visits a Lord's home, and can't help himself but snitch some food on a table, and then he snitches more, and more, and knocks the dish on the floor.  He is covered with sauce when the Lord finally comes to talk to him.  too much boob grabbing, especially for Sheri.  This is rated PG but this was a bit much, and happens several places in the movie, outside of clothing of course.  Dom Deluise has a part as a bad guy blackmailing Jenny Hill (Madeline Kahn) who is the fiance of the Lord, but also Sigerson's love interest.  Marty Feldman portrays the police sergeant helping Sigerson.
Gene Wilder also wrote this movie based on Conan Doyle's characters.  Wilder also directed.

Movie Review: ****Sherlock Holmes (2009)

This Sherlock Holmes movie was made in 2009.  The most interesting thing about this movie are the characters, and the enmeshment between the character, Dr. Watson (Jude Law) who would like to see less of Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and get married to Mary Morstan (Kelly Reilly).  However Holmes uses guilt, or dependency, or something to always keep him around.  This results in his almost being killed by a blast.  In this movie the nemesis is Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong).  Moriarty is still in the background, but a woman that intrigues Holmes, Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams) is working for him.  Blackwood sets himself up as coming back from the dead, after Watson proclaims him dead.  He continues to perpetrate murders to control others and gain power.  His boldest move is an attack on Parliament with gas warfare.  Will Holmes figure things out and get there in time.  This movie has good action but as I said, more interesting characters.

Movie Review: ****^Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows  2011 stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams.

This movie appealed to me.  It had an historical aspect, traveling around Europe, intellectual battle between Moriarty and Holmes, and the side characters of Dr. Watson, and Dr. Watson's new wife.   Downing plays Sherlock in such a cavalier way at times, leading Dr. Watson into danger.  It is really fun.  The plot revolves arms.  The show starts with a tragedy, the murder of Holme's girlfriend at the hands of Moriarty.  However it ends with a sudden twist.  I think it will be enjoyable to most adults.  It is intense, and youngsters might not follow all the plot twists.
