Disney Movie Review: ***^Hercules (1997)

Not the best Disney, I must admit.  Hades' side kicks were just too obnoxious.  However that one song, "Go the Distance" makes this a worthwhile experience.  It was sung by Roger Bart even though Hercules was voiced by Tate Donovan and Josh Keaton.  Meg, his love interest is played by Susan Egan, and she also sings the song, "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)."  In this movie Hercules must save the day, but this is after he gives away his heroic strength to save Meg.
The love interest plays a good part in making this movie enjoyable.  Alan Menken wrote the music.  Charlton Heston also has a cameo part.

Movie Review: **^The Mountain Men (1980)

I would have scored this movie higher, but it was very violent and very graphic.  This film centers around four main characters, and includes a love triangle.  Two mountain men, Billy Tyler and Henry Frapp (Charlton Heston and Brian Keith) are looking for the good life with beaver pelts, which seems to allude them.  They take on an Indian hostage, Running Moon (Victoria Racimo).  Running Moon falls for Tyler, who treats her much better than her husband.  Turns out her husband, Black Foot warrior, Heavy Eagle (Stephen Macht) wants to kill Tyler, and can really carry a grudge.  These people are all on a collision course.

Movie Review: ***^Treasure Island (1990 tv movie)

This a made for t.v. movie starring Charlton Heston as Long John Silver.  It really showcases Heston's ability.  He gives Long John the  larger-than-life feel he is known for.  There are enough plot changes between this and the Disney Treasure Island that it is worth viewing.  I especially like the use of a blunder gun, sort of a cannon shot gun, used by the captain.  However they are facing the cannon from ship.  In other words, there are some clever fight scenes.  It is well played the dangerous situation Long John and Master Him Hawkins (a young Christian Bale) find themselves in, and it gets worse when the treasure is already gone.   But it is Heston who makes this movie enjoyable and worthy of a view.
