BYUTV Audio-Files: 12 Bands of Christmas

 These Christmas audiofiles feature Provo area bands singing holiday songs.  These are bands or singers with ties to Provo.  It includes some popular Youtube artists as well as some I had never heard of.  Ryan Innes, the former Vocal Point member sings "What Child is This."  In the same vane the group Quiet House sings "Come O Come Emmanuel."  These songs are both personal favorites and bring the Christmas Spirit.  Elaine Bradley (Neon Trees' drummer) sings a new Christmas song proclaiming Christ and his atonement.  Of special note is "When Jesus Was Little" sung by The Strike.  This song has an excellent message as Mary and Jesus, "Kept these things in their hearts."  Joshua Jones sings "Go Tell It on the Mountain" with a blue grass flavor which is very nice.  The National Parks sing a new song ""It's Christmas."  This song tells of the joy of the season.  Book on Tape Worm sing a very good New Years song.  The Brocks sing "The First Noel."  Also included are Mindy Gledhill, the group The Moth and the Flame, the Fictionists and The Blue Aces.

Music Review: Neon Trees, Picture Show (2012)

The song "Everybody Talks" makes me want to dance.  It has something that really moves you.  I must admit there a couple of songs on here that just don't do it for me.  This is the songs that the resort to yelling such as "Teenage Sounds.".  That style is not mine.  However there are also some very good songs.  "Mad Love" is very good.  The drummer, Elaine Bradley, sings in this song and I really enjoy her.  However, the lead singer, Tyler Glen can sing in a way that is different but pleasing.

Music Review Neon Trees: Habits

Habits, 2010-2011  I wouldn't know anything about neon trees except for my son Caleb, who in his years singing covered a couple of their songs.  One is in this album, "Animal".  This is a song about passion, but it is very catchy.  Not only "Animal" but " 1983".  On this album is also a bonus track which Caleb also performed, "farther Down."  "I want to shake up your system, I want to rattle your bones."  I love it, even though I am an old fuddle duddle.  The think that sets this group apart is the singing of Tyler Glen.  He has a style which is uniquely his own.  And the beating of Elaine Bradley is very complementary, and the guitars make for some good music.
This music is considered alternative rock.  "Animal" is probably their most popular son, making it to number 13 on the billboard charts, and number 1 on the alternative rock chart.
