Movie Review: ****^ Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

 This is a fun expose of the two bandits, Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) and the Sundance Kid (Robert Redford).  It includes the son, "Raindrops keep falling on my head."  I is a really good view at the relationships.  The outlaws are forced to leave because of the intense pressure placed on them by the railroad company detectives seeking their death.  They move to Bolivia with Etta Place (Katherine Ross).  They go back into the business with some success robbing banks.   Bur they hear the detective from America has come to track them down, so they stop all criminal activity.  However working as guards they have to kill more then at being criminals.  Etta returns to America, and Butch and Sundance face and army.  That is where the show ends because of all the controversy of whether they returned to America or not and are buried in Bolivia.  

I really enjoy this history and this movie is fun.  

Movie Review: ****Captain America: The Winter Soldier

 Winter Soldier is the second Captain America movie.  The Winter Soldier is Bucky, Captain Roger's childhood friend.  However he was captured by Hydra and turned into a super soldier with a prosthetic super arm.  Turns out Hydra had infested SHIELD with some very devious plans based on an algorithm predicting the future of people and eliminating those who are undesirable.  Fury is wounded in an assassination attempt because he is onto the infiltration.  Lots of great action which leads to the confrontation between Winter Soldier and Captain America.  We are introduced to Falcon who helps Captain America.  Black Widow also plays a big part.  Alexander Pierce is the Hydra leader but also Fury's boss.

Movie Review: ***^An Unfinished Life (2005)

Here is a very good character expose featuring Robert Redford as a grandfather, Morgan Freeman as his cow hand who was mauled by a bear and is now crippled.  Jennifer Lopez shows up, his daughter-in-law (played by Jennifer Lopez) and his grand daughter who he has never met.  Grandfather's son was killed in a motor vehicle accident and grandfather has never forgiven her.  However she is fleeing from an abusive man and lands on his doorstep.  She takes them in while her life gets back in order.  But boyfriend follows.   Not only that but the bear also shows up.  Both situations require some resolution. 

Movie Review: **^Pete's Dragon (2016)

I just don't like this version of Pete's Dragon as much as the original, although the special effects are much better, and the dragon is much more realistic.  The story is almost totally different, other then a boy, lost in the woods is taken in by a dragon.  However when civilization encroaches, bad things are going to happen and things are going to change.  Pete (Oakes Fegley) is lost in the woods when his parents die in a car accident.  The dragon rescues him from wolves.
Meacham (Robert Redford) tells the story to the local kids of when he saw the dragon.  He is not believed.  Pete and the dragon have a nice life together for several years.  It isn't until the loggers reach their forest that things change.  A forest ranger, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) discovers Pete, and takes him home.  Now the dragon is looking for Pete everywhere, and makes it to the village.  The loggers however are after the dragon, and eventually capture him.  So who is going to rescue the dragon in the end.
This is a movie of goodbye, which is hard sometimes.  However Pete does find a family, and so does the dragon.

Movie Review: ****The Sting 1973

This movie puts Paul Newman and Robert Redford back together for quite a ride.  In this film they play conmen, who are going to take down a notorious mobster.  However as the mobster has the  habit of killing people, they have to be very careful.  Robert Shaw portrays the mobster, and he is a really bad man, who makes people disappear at his orders.  Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford's character) is in the con for revenge.  He has been a small time con, who happened into mob money, and his partner was murdered.  They are looking for him as well.  Throughout the picture he is running from would be murderers.
A cute scene is when the have to come up with a Western Union office at the last moment.  They take over an office pretending to be painters.  (Ray Walston) plays the painter.
This movie is good, and entertaining, but perhaps the most entertainment is the use of Scott Joplin music.  His piano ragtime music is superb.  The song, "The Entertainer" is well known, and moves me every time I hear it.
This movie won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Movie Review: ***The Great Waldo Pepper (1975)

The Great Waldo Pepper stars Robert Redford as a WWI biplane pilot.  However Redford's problem is that he was held back as an instructor, and only getting into the action after the war is almost over.  He tells the story of fighting the great Ernst Kessler, as if it was himself when in actuality it was another pilot.   He gets injured doing stunts during the barnstorming era.  Frustration is his lot.  He returns to visit his girlfriend (Margot Kidder), a common landing place when he is injured.  He thinks to over come this by being the first to do an outside loop.  His brother-in-law builds him a plane for the attempt, however Waldo is grounded temporarily after a stunt goes wrong and a stunt woman falls to her death (Susan Surandon).  His partner attempts the stunt, and crashes.  Pepper tries to rescue him, but one of the spectators sets the partner on fire with a cigarette.  No one will help him extract his friend.  As his friend dies, Pepper becomes upset and takes to a plane to buzz the spectators and chase them away.  In doing this he crashes, and receives a permanent grounding.
However his flying days are not over.  He takes and assumed name, and becomes a stunt pilot.  As luck should have it, Kessler is hired as a consultant.  They take to the air, and without weapons, end the film with a dog fight.

Movie Review: ****^Captain America

Captain America   This is an enjoyable sequel to the original Captain America and The Avengers.  Who knew that after the original that Hydra would be back.  That is what happens in this movie, and worse yet, they have infiltrated Shield.  Captain America (Chris Evans) and the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) discover this by following a beacon to a secret base, where the knowledge of the Hydra scientist, Dr Zola (Toby Jones).  Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson) has guided Shield to an important day where they will launch three vessels as a shield over the world.  These vessels will have incredible destructive force.  However, due to the infiltration of Hydra, this force is going to be used to cleanse the world of those who might stand in the way of Hydra, based on computer projections.  Nick Fury is shot, and presumed dead.  Falcon (Anthony Mackie) joins Captain America in first in offering a place to hold, and then in joining the team.  A surprise character is Bucky, Captain America's best friend, who was assumed lost in the first show.  His memory has been wiped, and he has been manipulated by Hydra to be an assassin.  He is the greatest rival, and Captain America wants to bring him back from the nightmare he is living.  Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford), Fury's boss is in fact the manipulator behind Hydra.
This is a fun show with great action.
