In Theaters: ***^ The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019)

When Rorie was born we had the boys, and took them to the theater.  We had a pretty good time.  This story actually goes about telling three stories at the same time.  Consequently it gets pretty complicated.  However it all comes together in the end with all of the pets teaming up to save a lion from and evil circus master who treats the lion poorly in training, and consequently the pets help him escape, and then overcome the circus master when he comes back to recapture the ion.  Harrison Ford plays Rooster and Patton Oswalt Max who is overly anxious about his boy.  Kevin Hart plays Snowball, a bunny who thinks of himself as a superhero.  Gidget, a dog who becomes ruler of a cat family, is portrayed by Jenny Slate.  The kids had a good time, Sheri was confused by the three plots happening at the same time and Miranda fell asleep.

In Theaters: ****Upside (2019)

****Upside (2019)  Tony wanted to see this movie to catch the actor from Jumanji , Kevin Hart, who here plays a man, Dell, down on his luck who is hired as a caretaker for a wealthy quadriplegic, Phillip Lacasse (Bryan Cranston), who injured himself in a hang gliding accident where his wife died.  His personal executive (Nicole Kidman) does not approve of the hire, (which was based on hiring the least competent care taker) and gives three strikes.  He gets to two, but the third does not come.  This movie involves stepping out of your box for both characters.  However, when Phillip goes on a date with his pen pal Lily (Julianna Margulies)at the urging of Dell, and it doesn’t go well, Phillip gives the third strike and sends Dell on his way.  However he has learned enough from Phillip to now stand on his own.  However Phillip is not in the same position.  Dell comes back in an effort to make things right, which makes for a nice ending with them both hang gliding. 
Word of warning, sometimes the language is rough, a brief scene with prostitutes and lots of marijuana smoking.  These pleasure seem pretty shallow but they are part of the movie.

Movie Review: ***^ Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)

Jumanji is just a fun movie.  It is not a movie with any moral lessons, but just to have a good time.  Four high school kids, transport themselves from high school detention to inside the Jumanji Game, where they have to go through a series of levels, and save Jumanji.  At the same time, they have only three lives.  In real life a nerd, Spencer (Alex Wolff) becomes the hero in Jumanji (Dwayne Johnson.)  The football player, Fridge (Ser'Darius Blain) becomes the back pack holder (Kevin Hart.)  the socialite Bethany (Madison Iseman) changes gender, loses her phone and becomes a zoologist (Jack Black.)  Martha, a nerdy woman (Morgan Turner) becomes the woman in short shorts (Karen Gillam.)  Each has their own skills and weaknesses.  Spencer is a good runner and climber.  Fridge blows up when he eats cake, Martha is good at fight dancing and Bethany knows animals.  However the team is not complete until they find someone who has been in the game for 20 years, Alex (Nick Jonas.)  This movie is pretty OK throughout.  There are some cracks at humor based on the changing gender, and part of Bethany.
