Book Review: The Magic of Oz

This is another delightful read.  I didn’t harvest as much whit, but the story was very entertaining.  We have the Gnome King coming into play again.  A young lad, who is tired of taking orders and wants to explore, comes upon a magical word which will transform whatever he wants something to transform into.  You just have to be careful not to transform yourself into something that cannot talk.  When the Gnome King sees this power in action, he manipulates the boy into helping him extract revenge upon the people of Oz and to capture the land for themselves.
They may very likely have been successful, because using the ability to transform things they try to convince the animal to join them.  The animals are wary, but decide to think about it.  In the meantime Dorothy and the Wizard come upon the animals.  They are already mad for the things the Gnome King has told them.
This story shows how your own pride can destroy your plans, especially when your plans are evil to begin with.  Our story includes plenty of treachery, and lots of magic.  I will leave you to read the book to find out how pride frustrates the Gnome King and his companion.
