In Theaters: ***The Kid Who Would Be King (2019)

**^The Kid Who Would Be King (2019)  Most of this movie was pretty likable; but nothing to write home about.  In other words, pretty mediocreThis is a child centered, middle school age, movie with a school defending the world against evil demons from the King Arthur era, who are coming back due to general apathy in the world.  This movie has not been very well received but it is passable.  The strange thing about it are weird hand motions Merlin makes which helps him perform magic.  Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson) is the evil witch, dragon, and is perhaps over the top as well.  She lives in the roots, and uses plants and roots to spy and trap people.  Classic battle, demons versus students at the end.  Patrick Stewart portrays the adult Merlin.

In Theaters: ****Upside (2019)

****Upside (2019)  Tony wanted to see this movie to catch the actor from Jumanji , Kevin Hart, who here plays a man, Dell, down on his luck who is hired as a caretaker for a wealthy quadriplegic, Phillip Lacasse (Bryan Cranston), who injured himself in a hang gliding accident where his wife died.  His personal executive (Nicole Kidman) does not approve of the hire, (which was based on hiring the least competent care taker) and gives three strikes.  He gets to two, but the third does not come.  This movie involves stepping out of your box for both characters.  However, when Phillip goes on a date with his pen pal Lily (Julianna Margulies)at the urging of Dell, and it doesn’t go well, Phillip gives the third strike and sends Dell on his way.  However he has learned enough from Phillip to now stand on his own.  However Phillip is not in the same position.  Dell comes back in an effort to make things right, which makes for a nice ending with them both hang gliding.
Word of warning, sometimes the language is rough, a brief scene with prostitutes and lots of marijuana smoking.  These pleasure seem pretty shallow but they are part of the movie.

In Theaters: *****Fantastic Beasts: Crimes 0f Grindelwald (2018)

*****Fantastic Beasts: Crimes 0f Grindelwald (2018)  This movie came out for Thanksgiving and I have viewed it three times.  I always love the Harry Potter movies.  Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) is really evil.  Not only is he evil, but he has a special magnetism wherein people like him.  Contrary to that is our team of two couples, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) and then Tina’s sister, Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol) and Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) who would make a formidable team but they are all breaking up and at odds with each other.  However in this mess, Queenie is enticed by Grindelwald, and the promise of free love with non-magical people.  Two characters play part in this story from Harry Potter, Albus Dumbledore, a younger version (Jude Law) and Nicholas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky).  In fact it is Flamel who saves they day when the aurors, including Newt’s brother, get over their heads trying to confront Grindelwald.  I love every minute of this.  I even purchased the screen plan and read it again so I wouldn’t miss anything.  Great fun!

In Theaters: ****Glass (2019)

This is another classic from M. Night Shyamalan.  I love the movie, but hated the ending.  Our three superheroes, Glass (Samuel Jackson), David Dunn or “Overseer” (Bruce Willis) and Split (James McAvoy) who plays many split personality characters, both male and female, including "The Beast” who can walk on the ceiling and hurts and kills others.   They are in a psychiatric unit headed by Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulsen) who has developed a method of curing super heroes.  She attempts to convince them that they are all delusional.  Casey Cooke portrays a young woman who is a former prisoner of “The Beast” but is infatuated with his true character.  Eventually the treatment goes wrong and there is a big confrontation at the end.

In Theaters: **** Mortal Engines (2018)

This movie is better than what critics were giving it credit for.  The world created is quite intriguing.  Here is a science fiction along the veins of Mad Max  This is a post-apocalyptic world where fuel is what determines everything as people go around in large mobile machines, some as big as a city, and try to prey on the littler guy.  This movie heads to a classic clash at the end, and only will-power will win out.  Hera Hilmar (Hester Shaw) is our heroine with a nasty gash on her face which she received from Thaddeus Valentine  (Hugo Weaving) (her father we later learn) and has result in a grudge from Hera against Thaddeus.  Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) ends up paired with Hera as they make their escape from the large city into the wild, where they are rescued from slavery by a marauder Anna Fang (Jihae ).Here is a science fiction along the veins of Mad Max  This is a post-apocalyptic world where fuel is what determines everything as people go around in large mobile machines, some as big as a city, and try to prey on the littler guy.  This movie heads to a classic clash at the end, and only will-power will win out.  Hera Hilmar (Hester Shaw) is our heroine with a nasty gash on her face which she received from Valentine and has resulted in a grudge from Hera against Thaddeus.  Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) ends up paired with Hera as they make their escape from the large city into the wild, where they are rescued from slavery by a marauder, Anna Fang (Jihae ).  Fang has a flying vehicle and they live in a city in the clouds.

In Theaters: ***Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)

It might be just me but I was expecting more from this movie.  This Disney movie was pretty good for the first 80 percent, but when it started showing the virus and just lost me.  Needless to say, I did not like the depiction of the virus.  It was just too much something for me.  However the Disney Princesses were very well done and added a cute part to the show.  Most were original stars giving voice.  This movie deatures the duo Ralph (John C. Reilly and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman).

In Theaters: ***^Replicas (2018)

***^Replicas (2018)  Here is a movie that ended up being much different than I had imagined.  Ended up being an industrial terror kind of movie, rather than just making clones.  Keanu Reeves play the father who loses his family in a car accident; and is determined to bring them back. However he only has three canisters and four family members.
