This is C.D. of the musical. The musical was first produced in 1947 and the movie in 1968. Finian's Rainbow was under impressive. I remember seeing the
movie with Petula Clark and Fred Astaire. This was not that caste. My
favorite is "Look to the Rainbow." I think this is a song about dreamers:
**
"Look, look
Look to the rainbow.
Follow it over the hill
And the stream.
Look, look
Look to the rainbow.
Follow the fellow
Who follows a dream.
Follow the fellow,
Follow the fellow,
Follow the fellow
Who follows a dream.
I also always liked
the song with, "How are Things in Glocca Morra. Is that willow tree still weeping there." However the
C.D. did not have enough of the plot to make it very enjoyable.

Tristan Robin Blakeman Definitely one of the most glorious musical scores from the "Golden Age" of Broadway. Stunning music and lyrics to die for. 'That Old Devil Moon' is still one of my alltime favorite songs.
ReplyDeleteThe 2009 revival was absolutely brilliant. Kate Baldwin was enchanting - and it was the first that Cheyenne Jackson showed up on my radar. Christopher Fitzgerald, who played Og, was nothing short of magical. The whole production - sets, costumes, performing, directing, CHOREOGRAPHY, was absolute top notch - and it made one remember just how marvelous those old musicals were. Sometimes we get so used to seeing second rate film version or fourth rate amateur or (god forbid LOL) high school/amateur productions, we can forget that the original shows were non-stop entertainment delights!
