Oscar Best Picture winner 1934. Peter Warne (Clark Gable) is a reporter just fired, but is onto a big story. Heiress Ellie Andrews (Claudette Colbert) is running away to marry her intended, King Westley (Jameson Thomas). Her father, Alexander Andrews (Walter Connolly) does not like the intended. And so Warne travels with Elli. Andrews from Florida to New York keeping her safe and out of trouble with the hopes of scoring a big story. And he comes up with the story but as will happen, plans get mucked up.
A cute movie with true love vs. convenient love. The father discovers the true love and works to make it happen, letting his daughter know there is a car waiting she can use. This is Runaway Bride the prequel.
