Music Review: **^ Gladys Knight: At Last

This CD was released in 2001.  It is mostly a compendium of love songs, song in the pop blues style.  There is one song whee Gladys gets out of this mold, and that is the song I prefer, "Grandma's Hands."  This song has a catchy upbeat rhythm.  It talks about Gladys' relationship with her grandmother:

Grandma’s Hands

Gladys don’t you run so fast
Might fall on a piece of glass
Might be snakes there in that grass
Grandma’s hands

It is humorous in its way.   Gladys dedicates this song to "those very special women who have nurtured, protected, loved, and affected positively so many lives."

Another song "Something Blue" is dedicated to those who have "lost someone precious in this life."  In Gladys own life she lost her adult son Jimmy III.

This is enjoyable, but I especially like "Grandma's Hands."
