Movie Review: ***^The Green Book (2018)

The Green Book (2018)
Here is a movie about much more than a book; but perhaps the book represents all that was wrong during this period of time.  Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a doctor of music, decides to make a concert trip to the south playing piano.  He is accompanied by two other musicians who ride in a different vehicle, and his driver/body guard Tony Lip (Viggo Mortenson).  Green Book refers to an annual publication letting African Americans know of accommodations suitable for them during the era of the Jim Crow laws.  This book deals with racial discrimination, and how these two deal with this, and deal with the community around them.  They both finally have enough, and skip playing their last engagement.  This is a very good study of prejudices and discrimination; and how prejudices can change with closer contact and friendships can be built.
