PBS Masterpiece Theater,
Miss Scarlett's father has died, and it falls on Miss Scarlett (Kate Phillips) to take over his detective agency. She is short on funds, and always short on cases, but with the support of her cousin, The Duke William Wellington (Stuart Martin), who is a detective inspector with the police, she is able to garner a client or two, but not the publicity she would like. It is hard for a woman in Victorian England to make her way. She recruits an unlikely informant in Moses (Ansu Kabia) who seems more street wise than would be proper for Miss Scarlett to hang around with. She is also supported by the house keeper and cook, Ivy (Cathy Belton). The biggest case of the first season is solving the murder of her father. Even though it looked like he had drunk hiself to death, that is not the case. This case takes she and the Duke into great peril.
