Daniel Craig again stars as detective Benoit Blanc. He shows up at a murder scene at a Catholic Church. He is brought in at the request of the chief of police, Chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis). The priest, Monsignor Wicks (Josh Brolin) has been murdered, and the new assistant priest, Father Duplenticy (Josh O'Connor) is set up to take the fall. But there are many suspects. Wicks had made enemies of most the parish; or driven them off. This includes Martha Delacroix (Glen Close) who has been with the church since being a child, DR. Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner) the local doctor. Vera Draven (Kerry Washington) a local lawyer. Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack) who turns out to be the Monsignor's illegitimate son. The Monsignor was murdered in a closet off of the chapel where he was drinking some alcohol before delivering his sermon. He collapses and is found with a "devil's blade" in his back. The father was the first to him, and the doctor the second. After they leave, the father returns and removes the Monsignor's flask. This was a vital clue. He removes it to prevent embarrassment for the head priest now that he is dead. The twist in the plot is when the Monsignor resurrects and the priest chases after him, to wake up with the gardner murdered, by him. Duplenticy is about to confess, when Blanc steps in the divulge the truth of what happened. Too much to tell here, and not wanting to divulge the murdered, this movie is a good mystery thriller with a couple of twists.

Movie Review: *** The Karate Kid (2010)
This is a remake movie of the Original Karate Kid but this time the action takes place in China. Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) moves to China with his mother (Sherry Parker). He quickly gets on the bad side of a gang of Kung Fu students and gets beat up a couple times, until Han (Jackie Chan) intervenes. Meiying (Wenwen Han) is the girl interest. The coach of the bullies is Master Li (Rongguang Yu) who is intent on showing no weakness, no mercy, no pain. They confront them at Master Li's dojo, and agree to fight at a tournament. In the meantime Han trains Parker, very much like in the original. We see much of China including a tall mountain and the Wall of China.
Smith does very good with handling the emotion, and reacted to the pain inflicted on him during the tournament. It is also very well done when the students of the Li Dojo pay respect to Master Han.

Harrison Ford Movie Review: ****Regarding Henry (1991)
Harrison Ford stars as a vicious lawyer, Henry Turner. He and his wife, Sarah (Annette Bening) and daughter, Rachel (Kamian Allen) have quite an affluent life. However Henry is quite vicious in his relationship with his daughter. He has a mistress. And he is above ethics in court.
He goes for cigarettes and is shot by the person robbing the store. He loses oxygen to his brain, and with that his memory and is in a coma for a long time.
He goes th4ough a lengthy rehabilitation. He has to learn to walk; he has to learn to talk; he has to learn everything again. Still he has difficulty remembering even his family. His teacher is primarily the physical therapist Bradley (Bill Nunn). They form a good attachment. In a way Henry becomes overly attached. When it comes time for him to go home, at first he refuses, but his daughter convinces him otherwise. So he returns home and starts over. After a few months he returns to work, without memory of what he use to do. It doesn't take him long to realize he hid information to get a verdict in his favor. He wants to set it right. He doesn't want to go back to his old life.
This is a very good character study, and going through a tragedy to get a new start. This includes his family. He quits his lawyer job and focuses on being a good father.
Harrison Ford always looks the same, but I hardly recognized Annette Bening so much younger.

Netflix Movie Review: ***^ Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)
This is a very good Netflix film. It is part of the Knives Out franchise and has the same detective, Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig). However this is a different case, and a different bunch of suspects. Blanc invites himself to a murder mystery party at the request of Helen Brand (Janelle Monáe), the twin sister of Andi Brand. She suspects Andi was murdered, she did not commit suicide. They are sure someone at the party is responsible. Helen also is coming to the party as Andi to help with research. The party is hosted by Miles Bron (Edward Norton). The invited friends are: Claire (Kathryn Hahn), Lionel (Leslie Odom Jr.), Duke (Dave Bautista), Peg (Jessica Henwick), Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson) and Whiskey (Madelyn Cline). They are all enmeshed with Miles, and lied for him in court so he could take over Andi's business. However she found some information that would prove the case, and that is the night she was murdered. Claire is a politician dependent on Bron for support, Duke is an internet personality and hopes Bron will put him on t.v. news, whiskey is his girlfriend, but she sleeps with Bron and it is known to Duke. Peg is Birdie Jay's assistant. She is negotiating with Bron about a mistake Birdie Jay made. Birdie Jay is a former model, now fashion designer and her business is dependent on Bron. Lionel is a scientist and working on a new energy source. Bron announces that he has used this new volatile source in his home. Lionel protests for the lack of testing. It was this source of energy that lead to the split between Andi and Bron. Andi did not believe it was a viable product. So there are a set of people who would benefit from Bron's death, here to play a game of Bron's murder. Turns out Duke saw Bron leaving Andi's house, and so he is murdered via pineapple to which he is highly allergic. He steals Duke's gun and shots Helen, but a book in her pocket stops the bullet. Helen finds the evidence in Bron's glass onion room; but Bron burns it. Sounds like everyone will lie for Bron again, so Helen starts to destroy his things, and everyone joins in. The energy source explodes. Everyone makes it out, and it sounds like Bron's friends are remembering things and appear willing to testify. Money cannot buy everything forever.
Disney Animated Movie Review: **^ Oliver & Company (1988)
Oliver and Company was made during the time when disney had sort of lost their way. Several of their movies were not up to their usual quality, and Oliver and Company is one of them. This is a take on Olive Twist with a cat as Oliver and dogs as the other members of the gang. There is a Bill Sykes and a Fagan. Sykes and his two dogs are very much the bad guys as they are true criminals. Fagan for his part is more a wantabe criminal but has too much heart.
Billy Joel plays the Dodger, Joey Lawrence plays Oliver. The other dogs are voiced by Cheech Marin, Richard Mulligan, Roscoe Lee Browne, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Bette Midler. The girl who takes Oliver in is played by Natalie Gregory, Fagan by Dom Deluise and Sykes by Robert Loggia.

Music Review: 50 Classic Wagon wheels
50 Classic Wagon Wheels: Legendary Songs of the Old West, The Beautiful Music Company, Sony Music Special Projects, 1992.
This is a pretty good collection of old songs. Some of them are pretty good and AI have heard them before. While others I have never heard. I was really looking forward to the song "(I've Got Spurs that) Jingle, Jangle Jingle" but did not really like the way Tex Ritter sang it. Gene Autrey sings a very nice "Home on the Range." Autrey also sings, "Back in the Saddle Again" and "Have I Told You Lately that I Love You." I really like "Mule Train" sung by Frankie Laine even though it is new to me. Marty Robbins sings, "The Streets of Laredo" and Slim Whitman Down in the Valley." Tex Ritter does better with "Jealous Heart and the c.d. concludes with "Deep in the Heart of Texas" sung by Bob Wills. This is sides E and F of six sides.
Music Review: American Heritage Songs Volume 1 and volume 2
American Heritage Songs: 200 Years of American Heritage in Song, CMH Records, Los Angeles, CA, 1991.
Some of this music has a definite bluegrass feel. Many songs are instrumental, such as dueling banjos. Most of the songs were not known to me. There are well over 100 songs on four CDs. It does have the Bob Dylan songm "Blowin' in the Wind." It also has "Greensleeves" which I always thought was a British song. It has a wide variety of artists. Tommy Faile sings "Yellow Rose of Texas." He and the Jones Brothers sing many of the songs. Dick and Jacquie Schuyler sing "I'll Give my Love and Apple."
Music Review: Adele at the Royal Albert Music Hall (2011)
The set I have has a CD and a DVD of the concert at the Royal Albert Music Hall. I llike the DVD a bit better because for many of the songs Adele gives an inroduction, where she was when she wrote the song etc. She also explains why she covers the songs she covers such as Bob Dylans song "Make you Fell my Love" which she sings every concert.
Adele has such a unique voice. I have heard others describe it an angelic and it is that, but her ability to sing lower makes her voice more than that. Then at time she sings low intermingled with her head voice which is very effective. Much of her music deals with her love life, break ups and disappointments. This C.D. includes "Someone Like You" and "Rolling in the Deep" as her encore songs, and they really do bring down the house. Both songs the audience sings along. "Set Fire to the Rain" is another very special song.
Adele is very much a treasure, in fact a British treasure where she is considered a national treasure and a beacon of cultural pride.
Disney/ Pixar Movie Review: ****^ Elio (2025)
After his parents die, Elio (Yonas Kibreab) is lost. He is being raised by his aunt Olga (Zoe Saldaña). He has no friends, and in fact a couple kids who pick on him. He keeps asking for aliens to pick him up and take him to another world. His wish finally does come true, and he represents himself as the leader of earth so they will let him stay. However he ends up having to face Lord Grigon (Brad Garrett), leader of a race intent on taking over the universe. Elio's attempt to reason with him fails; but then he meets Grigon's son, Glordon (Remy Edgerly) who is a large slug. They fast become friends. They duplicate Glordon, and the double is given to his father, while Glordon accidentally travels to earth. Earth is not good for Glordon, it is too cold and he is week, and he is taken by scientists for study. Grigon quickly sees through the clone, and Elio has to save Glordon. He travels to eart where a clone double has been sitting in for him. They get the aunt, and together the break into the facility to rescue Glordon. They use his ship to flea earth. The barely make it through the junk field. When Grigon intercepts them his son is almost dead. Grigon has to leave his battle shell to warm his son's body. Grigon sees things differently and is appeased not to conquer the universe.
This is a movie about belonging and finding purpose. Purpose comes from relationships with others. Elio finally finds a friend, one on earth too. And he finally accepts his aunt as a caregiver and returns to earth. I really enjoyed this story.

Classic Disney: **** 101 Dalmatians (1961)
In this Disney Classical musical we are introduced to Cruella De Vil (Betty Lou Gerson) with the song. Roger (Ben Wright) writes the song based on experiences with Cruella. Roger's wife, Anita (Lisa Davis) and her interest is to recruit pretty dogs to give herself a spotted fur coat. Perdita (Cate Bauer) has had 15 puppies with her mate, Pongo (Rod Taylor). Nanny (Martha Wentworth) nurses the 15th to life. Pongo and Perdita are the dogs of Roger and Anita and helped bring them together. Cruella steals the dogs; and sets off a an incredible rescue. I really enjoy the dog chain, and so many animals being involved in the rescue, even a cow who gives milk. Cruella has two bumbling henchmen, Jasper and Horace (J. Pat O'Malley and Frederick Worlock) who help give a light touch.

Harrison Ford Movie Review: ***^ Air Force One (1997)
The President (Harrison Ford) and his plane are under attack by a group of Russian Nationals who want a general restored. Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) is a retty violent person. In fact he and his team kill many people taking over the plane, and then Korshunov kills more to get people to do what he wants. He threatens the first lady (Wendy Crewson and his daughter (Liesel Mathews). He kills a jr staff member and the security advisor. The vice president (Glen Close) is in Washington and expresses to Russia our need. She would not authorize a 25th amendment take over and declare the president compromised. Important staff who die defending the president include his Chief of Staff (Paul Guilfoyle) and Major Caldwell (William H Macy). On the other hand Agent Gibbs (Xander Berkeley) betrayed the president and was a mole for the terrorists. He allowed them to access the weapons on board the plane. They seem to succeed. The general is being released. But the president escapes and they retake the plane. The general does not turn back when he is ordered to stop, and he is killed.
This movie is rated R with lots of violence and swearing. There are more mellow edited version available. It is very intense for a time. They are able to rescue many of the passengers with parachutes, but the refuel plane explodes. At times the dialogue seems off in my opinion. But I did like the line, get off my plane. Also with so many bullets flying around the plane would have been compromised at some point, but nothing happens as a result.
Disney Pixar Movie Review: *** Elemental (2023)
Ember and Wade meet. Quite a feet in a world were elements don't inter mingle. We have Fire, wind, rain and earth. They are all different from each other, and in fact their properties can be harmful to each other. Fire burns earth and water puts out fire. Ember (Leah Lewis) is fire, and Wade (Mamoudou Athie) is water. Ember sucks in Wade through a water leak she creates. wade is an inspector, and writes notes to shut down the shops of Ember's parents (Ronnie Del Carmen and Shila Ommi). The report already went to bosses so Ember and Wade are out to find it and get it back. On the way the fall in love. Eventually they decide to touch, and each practicing self control they find this is possible. Their relationship goes against the standard segregation on this world. But they make it work and are able to pursue their dreams.
Harrison Ford Movie: **** Call of the Wild (2020)
This movie is about the dog, Buck, and Bob Thornton (Harrison Ford) who inherits the dog when his master insists on overworking the dogs and making them travel a treacherous river that the ice is breaking up. But I am ahead of myself.
Buck is a city dog; a big dog none the less and prone to getting into trouble. He is Judge Miller's (Bradley Whitford) dog in Santa Clara County, California. There is a need for dogs in the Yukon and people buying dogs; so Buck is stolen and sent upstream. (Harrison Ford narrates). Buck is tamed with a club, but he still manages to get away. He is a very strong dog. But the club tames him. When he gets north he is purchased by Perrault (Omar Sy) and his wife Francoise (Cara Gee). Buck has to learn what to do, but he eventually takes over as the lead dog; and he is able to help them get the mail to the Yukon on time. However as they arrive, they are informed by telegram that the mail will no longer run to Yukon and they are to return south for reassignment. They have to sell the dogs, and Hal, (Dan Stevens) buys them. He is leading his sister, Mercedes (Karen Gillam) and her husband, Charles (Colin Woodell). They over load the sled and let the runners freeze and stick to the road. Thornton and Hal have several run ins, including about the treatment of the dogs, and the location of gold.
Thornton is in the north trying to refind himself after his son passed away. His son always wanted to travel in the north. He is drinking. He advises Hal not to take the dogs on the river that it is breaking up. Hal insists. Buck refuses to go. In the book they do go and all drown when the river breaks up. In the movie it is unclear, other than that Hal comes back alone and says the dogs ran off. We assume Charles and Mercedes are lost.
Buck and Thornton travel into the back country. The find an abandoned cabin and make a life. Buck meets a lady wolf and they have a courtship. Thornton finds gold in the giver, and collects quite a bit, when Hal shows up seeking his revenge. He shoots Thornton, and then Buck attacks him; even with a clube. In the struggle a fire had been started in the cabin and Buck pushes Hal into the fire. Thornton succombs to his wound, and Buck returns to the wild with his female wolf.

Japanese Graphic Novel: Goodbye, Ari
Goodbye Ari by Tatsuki Fujimoto, translation Amanda Haley, VIZ Media, San Francisco, 2022.
This book confused me at first until I was told back to front and right to left. This is a subject of death and dying and grieving. The main character's mother asks him to record her death as she is dying of cancer. He makes a movie, but blows everything up at the end. He couldn't face the death so made it a joke. It was not well received. He then tries again when his friend asks him to record her death. He carries through this time. He goes through life feeling something was wrong however; always tweaking his film. He marries, has kids, but they all die in a car accident. He then returns to where he and his friend hung out, and she is there. She explains she is a vampire and just needs to regenerate from time to time.
The theme of dealing with loss is good, however the author was fixated on body functions which made this book flippant.
Tom Hanks Movie Review: ***^ Here (2024)
This is a non linear presentation of several different generations, all from the dining, living room of a house across from the William Franklin (son of Benjamin Franklin) estate. Richard and Margaret (Tom Hanks and Robin Wright) are living in his father's home, which father gave to them in which to raise their daughter, Vanessa (Zsa Zsa Zemeckis). Father moved to Florida after his wife had a stroke. When she dies he moves back in with them. The move shows scenes of the same area from the dinosaur age, to the original owners of the home, John and Pauline Harter (Gwylim Lee and Michelle Dockery) never make it big. Paul likes planes, but dies in a flu epidemic. One resident (David Flynn) of the home makes the first LaZ Boy chair. After WWII, Al and Rose Young (Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly) but the home. They raise three children, Richard, Elizabeth (Lauren McQueen) and Jimmy (Harry Marcus). As noted it is Richard who stays in the home, much to the chagrin of Margaret who always wants to move to her own home. However Margaret becomes pregnant early and Richard, who aspires to be an artist, instead sell insurance to provide for his family. This creates a wedge and they eventually divorce but remain friends. At the end of the show, Richard brings his wife to the home which he had sold some years before, and there helps her to remember the good times they had there as she has dementia. She remembers a special incident with their daughter when she lost a blue ribbon and she found it for her.
So what starts as a convoluted jumble becomes a remember your past with dementia movie like Lake House.
Bourne Movie Review: ****^ Bourne Legacy (2012)
This movie is in the Bourne world, but is not about Jason Bourne. Instead it is about another operative. It coincides with Bourne ultimatum and talks about how the people high in government were cleaning up their mess with Treadstone and Blackbriar. They were doing this by killing people involved with the program, including all of the enhanced agents like Bourne. There are nine of them and in this case it is Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) who is running. They also want to kill the lab team that has been working on the meds and viruses that gives them their powers. They kill most of the agents by giving them poison instead of their regular pills. Cross was on a mission, and able to evade the drone sent to kill he and another agent (Oscar Isaac). It gets the other agent, but Dross avoids being blown up, and tricks the monitors when he puts his tracking device in the wolf.
Dross also manages to save a lab scientist, Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz). The rest of the lab people were killed. He is able to deal with the team sent to Shearing's house to kill her. A final lab enhanced person is sent to kill them. Very intense chases and fight scenes. Renner is fun as an enhanced agent. We learn much more about the program and how it came to be.

Disney Movie Review: ***** Bambi (1942)
I can't say anything ad about Bambi. It is sad when the mother is shot, and when Bambi is wounded. "Man is in the forest," is the worse thing that could happen. They bring guns and fire. I love the rain storm music. I also like the springtime which brings too much noise for Mr. Owl. This movie takes its time because they want to show they beauty of nature, and the uniqueness of the animals. This happens several times, in the spring, when Bambi is meating the community, and then again when the animals have babies of their own. At 1942 this movie is much older than I am. Disney use to rerelease movies before the age of VCR. They would also show on television.
